THE GAMES FOUNDING PRINCIPLES
CONNECTIONS is inspired from Dr. William Glassers
"Choice Theory®," as described in his book, "Choice
Theory®, A New Psychology of Personal Freedom." This
theory teaches that the only person that you can control is
yourself and the only aspect about yourself you can control
is your thinking and acting behavior. This is a source of personal
freedom, according to the theory.
"If
everyone would concentrate on controlling themselves and not
other people the world would be a better place," said game
inventor, Ronnie L. Mace. "Once you realize that you have
no control over other people you can dispense with distractions
and guilt resulting from trying to control others. This frees
you mentally and lets you focus on your goals in life."
However, people have a need to obtain close relationships. Why?
According to Glasser, people are genetically driven by five
basic needs: Love and belonging; power; freedom; fun, and survival.
Everyone has a mental picture of one or more of these needs
and in order to achieve them people must develop positive relationships.
Without realizing it, most people use what Glasser calls "external
control psychology," or disconnecting habits. Traits of
these habits include forcing, punishing, bribery, complaining
and more. These are understandably destructive to relationships.
However, according to Glasser, it is the "internal control
psychology," or connecting habits, that determine a persons
success in developing the necessary relationships to achieve
one or more of the five basic needs. Connecting habits include
respecting, trusting, listening, accepting, supporting, encouraging
and more.
A persons life is directly linked to successfully connecting
to other people. CONNECTIONS is a fun and entertaining
game that reveals the way players use "Connecting"
or "Disconnecting" habits to achieve goals.
CONNECTIONS teaches the art of using connecting habits
through a point system. To win the game, the player must accumulate
1,000 points. To win in life one must build positive relationships
to achieve one or more of the five basic needs.
Play CONNECTIONS. Enable your life. Achieve your goals.
